About Us

Past
A Common Ground for Woodbridge was formed in the spring of 2025. Rob Rosasco, the chairman of the Woodbridge Republican Town Committee at the time, had come to understand that the traditional two-party system in our town no longer served residents well.
The polarization, dysfunction and loss of public trust endemic in our national politics had filtered down into our local town government. A large number of residents were expressing dissatisfaction with the direction of the town and frustration that they were not being heard. We are not alone: nationwide, over 60% of Americans favor a third party, feeling unrepresented and trapped by the binary choice (Pew Research Center).
Rob and a few others with diverse political backgrounds created A Common Ground for Woodbridge to offer an alternative. This group of pragmatic centrists had the legal, financial, and government experience and expertise needed to bring the townspeople of Woodbridge back together and get the town back on track.
Within a very short timeframe, a large number of voters were convinced that the Common Ground team offered a better way. In a town where the incumbents have a 2:1 advantage, in a year when Democrats swept many neighboring towns, Common Ground lost the 2025 election by a razor-thin margin, only 8 votes out of more than 3,800 cast.
The campaign platform that so many voters embraced was founded on three simple pillars: Smart Growth; Fair Taxes; Open Doors.
Present
Common Ground’s two Selectmen, Amey Marrella and Andrea Urbano, are focused on promoting the three campaign pillars – Smart Growth, Fair Taxes, and Open Doors. They have recently proposed:
-
A Smart Growth Action Plan to address the Town’s near-term housing needs;
-
Education for the public and for town officials on the new housing law, PA 25-01;
-
Budget reform to include a referendum on this year’s budget;
-
Charter reform to increase transparency and accountability in town government.
Future
While national politics become more extreme and divisive, our Common Ground team values respectful collaboration with our neighbors. To that end, we invite you to join our diverse coalition, a group of your friends and fellow residents, representing both major parties, the Independent Party, and those who are politically unaffiliated.
A Common Ground for Woodbridge is an independent political committee with no ties or obligations to any other local, state, or national political parties, platforms, or ideologies. We are a purely local, grass roots organization: of, by, and for the people of the Town of Woodbridge.
Our vision is a town government that is inclusive, responsive, and transparent: a government that belongs to and listens to all of us, not just to those in one political faction.
Come and join us in the “sensible center.”
Smart Growth. Fair Taxes. Open Doors.
